"The Idea of Public Journalism" is a national symposium at Stanford University on Friday, April 26.

A dozen leading scholars will lead a discussion on the origins and implications of public journalism. The symposium will focus on public journalism's assumptions and premises, stated and unstated; it will examine public journalism's potential for reform and the implications of its claims for the newsroom and the larger community. David Broder of the Washington Post will deliver the annual McClatchy Lecture that evening. For registration material, contact commdept@forsythe.stanford.edu or call 415-725-7092.
