The reason for Democracy Place, USA is to give citizens an online voice, a
place where they can come, sound off, and be responded to by others who
share their opinions or disagree. Very often the Issue of the Week takes
its cue from the Radio Station, the TV Station, or the Newsstand where
contributors from around the country bring us closer to the issues facing
the voters and the candidates in the upcoming caucuses and primaries. This
time, however, it is the Cafe that shapes the
Issue of the Week. People are
talking about the stalled budget negotiations between President Clinton and
the Republican leadership in Congress. The level of frustration is high.
